The Josephine Baker Trust
During her time at the Royal Academy of Music, Helen was delighted to be selected as a Josephine Baker Trust artist.
A central declared aim of the Josephine Baker Trust is ‘to help talented singers in the early years of their singing careers’. The Trust offers support to individuals studying vocal music at The Royal Academy of Music and The Royal College of Music, by contributing towards their fees for oratorio and concert engagements with choral societies and orchestras across the UK.
Following annual auditions, during which prospective candidates perform three pieces of contrasting repertoire - an aria, an oratorio, and a Lied - a select number of soloists are chosen to be added to the Trust’s list of approved singers. These singers are then recommended for a variety of solo opportunities and receive funding from the Trust to contribute towards their fees.
